Brent Pattat and Amy Koch both have a passion for good, healthy food. Brent is from Somerville, TN, and grew up on his family’s farm (Pattat Farms). Not only do they grow corn, soybeans, and cotton, they also have cattle. Pattat Farms has been in existence since the 1920s. Brent left the family farm after attending UT in Knoxville. Eventually, he found his way to becoming a lineman at Chickasaw Electric for Fayette County.
Brent and Amy have always had a large organic garden as they live on 3.5 acres in Eads in Fayette County. Brent began exploring microgreens in 2020, and as his passion grew, Amy finally got him to move his production to the apartment above their garage and out of their dining room.
In early 2021, Brent decided his hobby was growing into a business and hired a consultant in Boston who helped take his hobby to the next level. The consultant in Boston started the same way - in his apartment - and has grown to be the largest provider of microgreens in the Boston area. That is Brent and Amy’s goal: to get PatKo Farms and Blues City Microgreens to as many people as possible.
Brent is now a full-time Urban Farmer. Amy, a native Memphian, has been in the financial services industry for almost 20 years. She is her husband’s biggest supporter and is excited about what the future holds. She loves to cook and find new ways to use her husband’s delicious, vitamin-packed microgreens (when he remembers to save them for her).
In their spare time, they like spending as much time as they can with Brent’s son – traveling, hiking, fishing, soccer - any excuse to be outdoors.
